Today is a momentous day for New York and marijuana. Columbia Care opened its doors to the public as the first medical marijuana dispensary in the state. Don't quite get your hopes up though. In order to even get into the lobby, you will need to have a medical marijuana card. To get one you have to be diagnosed, by an approved doctor, with a short list of pretty extreme diseases and ailments including but not limited to AIDS, MS and Parkinson's. This is the first of 20 MMJ dispensaries that will serve the entire state.
After voicing some opinions about the prohibition-esque era bans on recreational use of marijuana in this country to a friend, he made me realize that this is a huge step in the right direction. Although New York is following the lead of states like California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington DC, this is where change is made and examples are set. If we can get it right here, it'll be a lot easier for the rest of the country to follow suit. Herbs TV are huge advocates of not only the medical but social and recreational advantages of our beloved plant. We can't wait until it is proven that everyone can benefit from the ganja.
